Throughout my rotations in Ashurst's IT Graduate Program, I have had the opportunity to work on various projects and gain firsthand experience in different areas of IT, from service transition and cyber security to IT architecture and business analysis

Throughout the clerkship, I received great mentorship from my supervising partner – who provided me with valuable feedback throughout the clerkship, continuously took me to client meetings and got me involved in a range of interesting matters.

I decided to work for the NSW Government as I knew I would perform best if I was passionate about my work and confident that it would have a positive impact on the people of NSW and the environment.

Starting on small tasks as a junior lawyer can help to build up your commercial knowledge and confidence in your area of expertise, getting you prepared to take on more responsibility within the team.

If you have the opportunity to do a graduate program, take it and try as many different areas as you can!  You may think you know what type of law you want to specialise in, but you never know what is out there unless you give it a shot. 

During my studies, I worked in hospitality and at a university college and spent time volunteering at a youth cancer not-for-profit including as a board director.

I was always amazed when I was able to use my knowledge from university to draft a memo which later went out to the client either in its original form or with only minor edits.
